Dr. Sheila Furey is a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist who has practiced in the Richmond area for over 20 years. She has worked as an advocate for children in public schools and has provided care to children in residential treatment and juvenile detention. Her passion for serving children and helping families led her to begin teaching brain exercises to help children and adults overcome learning disabilities. This cutting edge innovation is changing the lives of children across Virginia and other states.
Dr. Furey was born in Carroll, Iowa. She attended Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. She moved to Boston, Massachusetts to complete her medical training and moved to Virginia in 2000.
In addition to operating a full time private practice and active family life, Dr. Furey under went treatment for breast cancer and is celebrating her new life beyond cancer.
Dr. Furey has been married to her husband Dennis for 25 years. Their two daughters Meghan and Sarah are attending college here in Virginia.
